Senior Jenny Junker poses with a scholarship award for her merch

Receiving a scholarship is enough to make any college student giddy with excitement, whether the amount is $350 or $3,500. So it's no surprise that Iowa State student Jenny Junker felt like she was dreaming when she heard the news she won a scholarship worth -- wait for it -- $35,000.

Junker, senior in apparel, merchandising, and design, won the prestigious YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund award by wowing judges with her merchandising case study and presentation at the New York City competition. Although Junker had won $5,000 in the same competition the year before, she was still awed by winning the top prize. Said Junker, "Aside from the utter shock, my heart just filled with so much gratitude. Receiving this scholarship and being surrounded by so many amazing people in the industry made me more excited to graduate and begin my career."

Ever since she was young, Junker knew she wanted to be in the fashion industry. So, she decided to attend Iowa State to join one of the top apparel merchandising programs in the nation and make her dreams come true. Turns out, it was one of the best decisions of her life. "Iowa State has helped me through every step of my adventure," Junker said. "It was a perfect fit, and I have never doubted that this is the place I am supposed to be."
