A stadium-sized adventure

Iowa State graduate Lisa Niess at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapol

For millions of Americans, attending the Super Bowl is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But for 2011 Iowa State graduate Lisa Niess, this thrill was amplified tenfold in 2018. That's because Niess didn't just attend Super Bowl LII -- she got to be on the team that made sure it went off without a hitch.

It's all part of the job for Niess, who's the marketing and communications manager at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. From helping organize and plan mega events like the Super Bowl to overseeing stadium communications, Niess has a career that would make even the most seasoned marketer envious. And she says she owes it all to an internship at Iowa State.

While a student majoring in marketing, Niess had a three-year internship at the Iowa State Center, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019. "The talented team at the Iowa State Center helped me grow over three years as an intern," Niess said. "I still use a significant amount of the education I gained from that internship in my work today. It's really the reason why I am where I am."

Wherever you want to go, an adventure at Iowa State can help you get there. It's where you'll find the courage to follow your heart. It's where you'll find the freedom to create your own identity. It's where you'll find yourself part of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Every single day.
