Sliding into a career before graduation

Todd Ramaeker came to Iowa State for one big reason. He knew that if he worked hard in and out of the classroom, any dream could become a reality. So when he landed an internship at Deere and Company, he made sure he made the most of every project. John Deere recognized his hard work and enthusiasm, and he was offered a full-time job when he graduates.

“My classes did a good job preparing me for this internship,” said Todd who’s a double major in agricultural communications and agricultural studies. “My professors taught me that there’s always something more that can be done, a new idea that can be suggested and another way to get the job done.”

At Iowa State, our students are in high demand before and after they graduate. Employers are frequently visiting campus to discover students through interviews and career fairs that are some of the largest in the nation. That demand leads to a 93 percent placement rate of our students in a career or graduate school within six months of graduation.

Like hundreds of other seniors, the closer Todd gets to graduation, the more he’s thankful for his internships, cooperative opportunities and career fair participation. Because he realizes Iowa State has prepared him to slide right into his next adventure -- life.
