Visitors' Guide

Parking

Most campus parking lots are open to visitors on the weekends and during non-business hours (before 7 a.m. and after 5:30 p.m.) on weekdays. Following are other parking options:

  • Memorial Union parking ramp

The ramp is on the south edge of campus on Lincoln Way, near Lynn Avenue. Maximum rate charge is $6 per day. See map.
  • Visitor parking permits

With a temporary "visitor" parking permit, you can park in any campus lot designated for "general" parking. You can obtain a permit from the Visitor Information Booth, at the intersection of Elwood Drive and S. Fourth Street (southeast of Hilton Coliseum).
  • Iowa State Center parking

Visitors can park in lots A4 and B6 (just south of Stephens Auditorium), off S. Fourth Street. A free "orange route" Cy-Ride bus to campus makes pick-ups every 5 to 20 mins. on weekdays. During weekends, the lots are often not available due to campus events and bus pick-ups are less frequent. (Bus schedule is available at the transit center, located at the lots.)
  • Parking meters

Metered parking for visitors also is available in some campus lots. To view metered parking online, go to the campus maps site, select a building and click button to view map. Then select "parking lots" from the pull-down menu in the upper right corner of the page.
