A professor who CAN see the forest for the trees

Lisa Schulte wants to get to the root of tree issues. Wading through century-old tree data and comparing those records with current observations gives her a picture of how forests are changing. This is information she thinks government and businesses need to look at when they are considering policies.

Research: Schulte has recently had a study published in the journal "Landscape Ecology" about the loss of diversity of forests of the upper Midwest.

Climate change: Loves living in Ames, but has two problems with the weather. "It's too hot in the summer and too hot in the winter."

Loves to: Play with her dog Inga -- especially in the snow. Recently, Inga got the best of Schulte in a wrestling match. For the next few days, Schulte studied forests through a black eye.
