Walt Fehr
Taste test
Soybean breeder Walter Fehr (center), a Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture at Iowa State, led a 35-year effort to develop soybean oil that doesn't create unhealthy trans fats during food manufacturing. Several people had a chance to taste the new oil during an event on campus March 9. After a two-month evaluation, the ISU Dining Services has announced it will use the new oil in its fryers. Hickory Park restaurant in Ames also is using the oil. More.
