Do I Need the 'Extras' files

You don't need to download 'extras' if . . .

Your web pages are on the www.iastate.edu server. Any web pages which have "www.iastate.edu" in their URLs are on this server.

You may want to download 'extras' if . . .

Your web pages are not on the www.iastate.edu server. Pages with these kinds of URLs are NOT on the www.iastate.edu server:

  • http://www.bus.iastate.edu/

Downloading the "extras" files to your own server ensures that your pages will display correctly in the unlikely event that the www.iastate.edu server goes down.

What's in the 'extras' folder

  • isu.css -- CSS style sheet for the templates.
  • isu200.gif -- "Iowa State University" nameplate (200 X 15 px) for top of page.
  • llcurve.gif -- Small black curved corner on site index bar.
  • cc9.gif -- Makes up the vertical khaki bar alongside the highlights section on the lower right corner of some pages.
  • ISUbecoming.gif -- "Iowa State-Becoming the Best" nameplate (200 X 31 px). Goes at the bottom of all pages.

Downloading 'extras'

Download the "extras" folder. If you have problems unzipping the folder, make sure that your computer has an unzipping utility (like Stuffit or Winzip). Or contact dpounds@iastate.edu.

Once you've downloaded these files, transfer them to your web space. Be sure to adjust the links on the template source code to point to the files in their new location on the server.

If your server is on www.iastate.edu, you probably don't need to download the "extras" files.
