Scripts, applets, plug-ins and PDFsFew plug-ins embedded into web pages are directly accessible. All scripts or plug-ins should be accompanied by a contact that allows readers to request the information in a different format. PDF filesWhen you use PDF files on the web, use tagged PDF files with appropriate markup. In addition, you should provide alternative HTML or text versions of the files. For more information on creating accessible PDF files see these guidelines from Adobe and WebAim. Adobe offers several online accessibility tools for helping people read PDF files. One option is to type in the URL of the PDF file in a Adobe form. The program instantly converts the PDF to HTML and returns it to the user's browser. Power PointPowerPoint files currently are not directly accessible from a web site unless the user's computer has a full version of the PowerPoint program (not just the PowerPoint viewer). If you offer a PowerPoint presentation on a web site, it's a good idea to provide an HTML version as well. See WebAim's PowerPoint Accessibility Techniques.
