Success storiesExamples of ISU assistance to business/industry
An employee since 1980 and president since 2000, John Patrick Moyna has helped build C.J. Moyna & Sons of Elkader into a leading construction company in northeast Iowa, today employing nearly 180 people. However, where Moyna's genius really shines through is his design of innovative new equipment for the construction and earth-moving industries. Moyna holds six patents and has several more pending, all based on problems he has experienced in his many years in the construction industry. These inventions are the foundation of a new company he started in 2002 called E-ject Systems Equipment. E-ject is building a new plant in Elkader to manufacture this equipment and employment is expected to reach 35 when it is completed later this year. Iowa State has played a key role in helping E-ject perfect its new equipment lines. Using contract cost-sharing and a process called "finite element analysis," Iowa State scientists have been able to help E-ject determine the best design and materials for use in its products.
