ISU opens search for NCAA faculty representative
A screening committee seeks applicants for Iowa State's faculty athletics
representative to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
Barbara Licklider, professor of educational leadership and policy studies,
is stepping down after six years in the position. ISU President Gregory
Geoffroy hopes to name Licklider's successor before the end of the academic
year.
The committee will begin reviewing applications April 14 and forward
finalists to Geoffroy, who will appoint a representative for a three-year
term.
The faculty athletics representative position is open to all tenured and
tenure-track faculty at ISU. Applicants may not hold administrative or
coaching positions in the athletic department. Applications and nominations
will be accepted until the position is filled.
ISU's faculty athletics representative represents the university at meetings
of the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA, advises the president on athletic
matters and helps maintain the academic integrity of the athletic program
and student-athletes.
The representative certifies the eligibility of student-athletes,
investigate reports of rules violations. to the university administration,
Big 12 Conference and NCAA.
The representative reports to President Geoffroy, also gives an annual
report to the ISU Faculty Senate on Big 12 or NCAA academic policies or
procedures that affect ISU or its students.
