Deborah Hwang, '85 Comp Sci, earned tenure and was promoted to associate professor at University of Evansville, Indiana.

Barbara Cole, '89 Sp Com, was voted Most Valuable Team Player -- 2000 for Cox Communications Marketing Department.

Kent Lucken, '86 Pol Sci, graduated from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and has accepted a position with Robertson Stephens Investment Bank, Boston, Mass.

Lee Shervheim, '88 Indus Engr, '90 MS Indus/Mfg Sys Engr is operations manager for Personal Storage Division of Imation Corporation, Wahpeton, N.D. The plant recently was recognized by Industry Week as one of the 10 best in the U.S. for 2000.

Mark Shanda, '82 Pol Sci, was promoted to full professor and appointed associate chair of the department of theatre at Ohio State University. Steven North, '82 Comp Sci, graduated from Johns Hopkins with a master's degree in Technical Management.

Ron Friederich, '67 Zool, received the 2001 Community Service Award from the New Mexico Medical Society for starting an eye clinic for the homeless and volunteering for other medical works.

Earl Holtz, '63 Indus Admin, helped found the New Tradition Chorus, which recently won the international competition for the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing.

Ida Shepard Simmons, '61 Fam Con Sci, was promoted to the rank of professor and received the Dean's Award for outstanding contributions to the College of Education at Southeast Missouri State University.

Lawrence Philip Van Werden, '59 Agron, '60 Agron, has received the Second Annual Community Service Award from the Iowa State Bar Association.

Lawrence Downing, '58 Chem, has been named in the current edition of The Best Lawyers in America in Family Law.
