Thete Chi will rebuild
No one was hurt when the Theta Chi fraternity on Ash Avenue was
all but destroyed by fire Oct. 5. After taking refuge temporarily
in the residence halls, 22 members of the fraternity moved into
empty space at the Adelante fraternity. They will be there at
least through the end of this school year.
The fire started in the early morning hours in the kitchen when
the burner under a pan of grease was left on. The fire spread into
the house's walls to the second and third floors.
What remained of the structure has been demolished. A new Theta
Chi house may be completed by spring or fall 1998.
The Kappa Sigma and Theta Delta Chi fraternity houses on either
side were not damaged.
