Multiculturalism To the editor: I am writing to echo the points raised by Melanie McCulley in your May '95 issue regarding the comments of Martinson and Moore in previous issues questioning the value of multiculturalism. The most compelling argument in favor of promoting multiculturalism at Iowa State is the fact that graduates are making these comments! No one should come away from a college education anywhere with such narrow minds. This is one world, guys. Stereotypes based on ignorance hurt you, too. If you want people to stop assuming all men from Iowa are hicks or rubes, you should stop and think about what your comments tell about yourselves. While you're at it, consider what obstacles your ancestors faced when they arrived in this country. -- Dianne Harrington ('81), Wautoma, Wis. _____
