The Four-Year Plan Iowa State is guaranteeing students willing to stick to a schedule that they can graduate in four years. Beginning this semester, entering freshmen with the proper academic preparation may enter into a contract with the university to graduate in four years. As part of their contract, students agree to take 15 to 18 credits each semester and enroll in courses when they are available -- even if the courses are not offered during the students' preferred times. The university, in turn, promises to provide these students with experienced academic advisers who can help them develop their four-year plans and guide them through their college years. If students are unable to get into the classes they need to graduate, university officials will try to substitute equivalent courses or independent study assignments, or waive the requirements. _____ contact: University Relations, (515) 294-3129 updated: 9-28-95
