How Much Snow? To the editor: January and February of 1936 was one of the coldest and snowiest winters at Iowa State ever. Fortunately, that year the clothes fad was ski pants for coeds. As for myself, that fall I bought a pair of jodpurs and Hi Top boots and a sheepskin jacket. On about Jan. 25, it was about 25 below zero and snowing hard at 4 p.m. On subsequent days when the temperature approached zero, it started to snow again. That went on for about three weeks before the weather moderated. -- David Sheldahl ('36), Mesa, Ariz. _____ contact: Internal Communications, (515) 294-3129 updated: 5-25-95
